Swamp Bar: The New Late-Night Gem in Midtown

Late Night/Great Night

The truth is, Memphis is a food city no matter how you shake it. We’ve got the ribs and the pulled pork, sure…but in its own right, the city has become a mecca of exciting Southern cuisine that doesn’t always include smoke and sauce. We’re seeing international flavors of nearly every kind, innovative fusion concepts, and dining experiences that could rival those in much bigger metropolises. Swamp Bar is a fabulous new addition to our restaurant scene, especially those looking for bites a little later in the evening.

Out and About

Midtown Memphis has a lot going for it these days. With the vibrancy of several great restaurants, beautiful dining patios, and multiple play theaters located within just a few easily walkable blocks, the energy on Overton Square is at its best after the sun goes down. But for a while now, the city hasn’t boasted many great places for late-night hangs. Things are changing with a few fun bars popping up here and there, and Swamp Bar promises to be one of the best. With an Asian/creole menu and some of the best cocktails you’ve ever had, Swamp Bar takes late-night outings to an elevated experience that feels new for the city. Instead of feeling like you’ve come into a restaurant “after hours”, late-nights at Swamp Bar feel like the peak of what they have to offer.

The Menu

Swamp Bar started as a pop-up concept last winter that has found its stride and become a permanent fixture. Nestled in the former Panta space right next to Second Line on Monroe and Cooper, the space is cozy, eclectic, and laden with hip ambiance. The menu takes you from appetizers to sandwiches to full entrees. Think panang curry shrimp and grits or steak Saigon. Something new with a kick cozied right up to something old. A new Fall menu will debut soon and with it, you can expect an exciting new slew of cocktails offered right beside the traditionalists: Paper Planes, Sazeracs, and Tom Collins.

The seating is plentiful but also intimate. If you ever visited the old Restaurant Iris in the same spot, you know the charm of dining in one of Midtown’s old houses. But Swamp Bar offers a fresh take on the space and its regulars will tell you, it’s the perfect place to spend the last shreds of your evening.

See You There!

Swamp Bar is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 pm - 12 pm, with Happy Hour every day from 5 - 8. Enjoy $4 well drinks, $6 house wines, and $5 margaritas (spicy option available)!

So, problem solved. Next time you’ve seen a play on the Square or finished a tremendous meal or are wrapping a date night, you’ve finally got an option for winding down in style! Visit Swamp Bar and enjoy the best of late-night in Memphis.
