Summer Eats Get Elevated with Picnic-Perfect Rocket Greens

It’s Picnic Season!

Here we are in the long, warm days of a Midsouth Summer and the outdoor events are popping up everywhere! Whether you’re a regular at the Overton Park Shell, can’t miss a concert at the GPAC Grove, or simply love a casual weekend picnic at a park, easy ‘to-go’ meal options are imperative this time of year. Everybody has their favorite options for packing a cooler or swinging by a food truck and now, right in the center of midtown, Memphis has a healthy new way of eating fast, deliciously, and on the go.

A Fresh Food Truck

Food truck food is nearly always delicious, unique, niche – and very rarely healthy. But why not? Local chef Kelly English asked himself this question some time ago and marveled that there were not easy, healthy options for lunch in and around the city center. That’s when the empty lot on Cooper and Linden between Peabody and Union became available.

After all, everybody loves a salad and there’s a salad for everybody!

English has curated a well balanced menu of offerings that range from protein heavy Fried Chicken Chicken Salad dripping with creamy ranch dressing to a lighter Greek salad with a traditional vinaigrette. But the options also fall everywhere in between. The Memphis Cobb Salad features pimento cheese, avocado, deviled egg and bbq ranch for a riff on the traditional Cobb. The Korean Salad offers the crunch of edamame, the acidity of pickled ginger, and a little kick from the gochujang vinaigrette – but it’s the addition of salmon that really makes it shine. As usual, branching out with English’s menu is never going to disappoint. You’ll be surprised by the flavors, how they mingle, and how satisfying “just a salad” can truly be.

Healthy, fresh food makes sense at Cooper and Linden Avenue. Several handy parking spaces keep the food truck lot accessible and the experience fast if you’re on the go. Want to sit a spell? Several wooden picnic benches give you space to enjoy the breeze, the salads, and a friendly conversation right in the middle of midtown. Whether you’re in between meetings, on the way to an evening concert, or just in the midst of errands, Rocket Greens is a great choice for a quick bite or an al fresco dinner. Open till 7pm throughout the week, the food truck also makes sense for both lunch and suppers on the way to an event. Swing by before your next Shell concert or brown bag lecture at the Dixon and amplify your entire experience.

Visit and then…visit again!

The truck will stay put but the menu at Rocket Greens is set to change in all the right ways. While customer favorites will remain locked in, seasonal offerings will rotate and other fresh bites will be added in. And the options will always be ready to customize and made fresh to order. Fast, fresh, and flavorful in every way, Rocket Greens is sure to become a new summertime favorite on your list!
