Memphis Makes Me Want To...Become a Member

Because Support Matters

In a world always looking for Patreon subscribers, likes, followers, and Venmo transactions, it’s hard to know that where we put our money ever really matters. Everybody is looking to cash in on their side hustle or virtual dream, but the truth is, there are plenty of really legitimate, easy ways to support real, live, local people in your city. Finding a way to subscribe to local makers and artists is nearly as fun as receiving and enjoying their goods and the engagement with local business will make you feel even more ownership in your hometown.

Makers & Shakers

We love an easy setup for getting stuff you love from people you admire. Here are some of our faves for supporting local makers:

  1. Midtown Bramble & Bloom - This local florist has hit the ground running since launching her floral farm startup in 2021. Marisa Mender-Franklin tends 9 flower patches (some tucked away in midtown backyards!) around the city, harvests gorgeous flowers, and creates stunning arrangements. Check out her variety of subscriptions and enjoy her floral art weekly or monthly.

  2. Lucy J's bakery - Who doesn’t love a bakery on a mission? The folks at Lucy J's love Memphis, love good bakes, and love people. Read about their cause on their website and lend some support by subscribing to their weekly croissant subscription. Can. You. Even. Imagine.

  3. Vinculo Coffee - The best local coffee you may not have heard of yet…Vinculo Coffee is the passion project of a Collierville man who has a goal to love the nations. Try their incredible roasts and subscribe to their monthly coffee subscription. Support global farmers and extend the love.

  4. Jones Orchard CSA - Everybody loves the produce from Jones Orchard and by signing up for their farm share, you’ll enjoy the best of their fresh harvests from May to October. Pick your own produce and even mix in jams and jellies of your choice!

The Stage

  1. Theatre Memphis - The cities’ old community theatre is an absolute gem. Since Covid, Theatre Memphis has managed to grow its subscribers, break previous ticket sales records, and most importantly, deliver the most beautiful, professional shows they’ve ever staged. Don’t sleep on their 2024/2025 Season! Subscribers get significant savings and first dibs on seat reservations.

  2. Opera Memphis - Our local Opera foundation offers season after season of classics that appeal to seasoned opera goers and novices alike. Their vision to make opera approachable, enjoyable, and accessible to everyone provides our city with a month of opera pop-ups every year and their innate sense of marketing humor keeps up smirking. Break away from your norm and immerse yourself in the enchanting world of opera!

  3. Germantown Community Theatre - Germantown’s historical schoolhouse turned into a charming, intimate theatre celebrates Season 53 next year. GCT excels in offering classic stage productions right along with more nuanced pieces, and their summer camps and productions are fun for the whole family.

There’s nothing better than signing up for a long term commitment to creativity, passion, and local investment. Show your city you care and become a member somewhere this spring…you’ll get far more than you bargained for.
