Home Refresh (Summer Edition!)
What We’re Loving
Summer means longer days and a little extra margin. It’s the perfect time to dream some big dreams for your home, add some color, or make your outside spaces more livable for these months of warmth and lounging. We’ve gathered some of our favorite items and ideas for giving your house a sweet Summer refresh and we’re thinking you’ll love the updates as much as we do.
Outside
Fly Fans • Al fresco dining is one of the sheer pleasures of summer, but flies can prove to be real pests when you find yourself constantly swatting. We love these cute battery powered fly fans from Amazon. The pliable propellers keep the air active around your table and shoo the flies off for you so you can sip, snack, and remain unbothered. Plus, the design is cute and comes in a choice of colors!
Speaker / Light Combo • If you love to listen while you lounge, this bluetooth speaker will keep your tunes going and your space romantically lit. With two ways to glow (stationary light or flame), this speaker can hang on a shepherd’s hook or simply sit on a table to add some charm to your environment.
Flameless Candles • This set of battery operated flameless candles is an easy “yes” for beauty and ease. Controlled by remote or switch, they add ambiance and never make a mess! These candles are not weather-proof so we simply bring them inside after use.
Inside
Rich Colors • Cool grays are out! Time to warm up your interior spaces with richer hues that add coziness and depth. Behr’s Color of the Year is a perfect example of a wall color that will add immediate luxe to your home. “Rumors” is a deep, ruby bed that entices and enfolds, making a dramatic statement in a bathroom or on an accent wall.
To-Go Glasses • These adorable glasses make your daily iced coffee or tea feel like an actual treat. Suddenly those homemade cold brews will feel like barista-created $8 variety and you’ll feel very fancy indeed…even if you’re just shuffling around the house in a bathrobe.
STILL • Mary Jo Hoffman is a photographer who has been taking still photos of natural objects every single day for years. She’s compiled her best in a coffee table book that will add interest and beauty to your collection. Her artistic style is both profound and simple and her photos will encourage you to take a deep breath and be still for a moment or two.
A few simple upgrades like these will give your space a little lift for the summer and make any week feel more like a staycation.
