6 Style & Comfort Tips To Bring A Warm Glow Inside Your Home

It still may be a thousand degrees in Memphis but we’re all looking ahead to school days, slightly cooler temps (89 perhaps?), and earlier sunsets. Fall is beautiful in the Bluff City and just as the leaves turn their fiery shades of burnt sienna along the Parkways, we’ll be rethinking our homes for a new season and all that it brings. Warming up your home aesthetically will bring a lot of autumn in even if it’s not quite sweater weather outside.

You may have noticed that grays, whites, and stark interiors are slowly being updated with rich natural tones and jewel colors and while uncluttered is always classic, color and texture is definitely making a comeback. The beautiful thing is that replacing just a few items in your home can plunge your interior into a luxe mood that will cross seasons with elegance. Summer break is ending and Fall is still a far way off, but these transitional items will keep you feeling cozy in the meantime.

  1. Gold Flatware - We love this chic flatware for its style and durability. Dishwasher safe and thoroughly modern, it adds some flair to every meal without breaking the bank.

  2. Dry Gin and Pine Tar Candle - Made by Bradley Mountain in Columbia, TN, this candle brings a fresh, autumnal scent right into your living room. Its amber glass jar casts a warm glow and its fragrance is both subtle and welcoming.

  3. Prayer Plant - A prayer plant in your home will offer a bit of organic life on cold days ahead and also help you trace its circadian rhythms as it moves throughout the day with the rising and setting of the sun. The Calathea Rattlesnake Prayer Plant, with its natural height and deep hues (it has a gorgeous purple underleaf) will also offer some vertical color to any corner of your home.

  4. Framed Prints - “Fine art” prints in gorgeous frames are widely available these days as economical but dramatic additions to your gallery walls or empty spaces. We love this Plank and Pillow print from Etsy or this dreamy landscape from Wayfair.

  5. Classic Copper - Copper items add a bit of Old World style that will never go out of trend. Consider investing in those beautiful pots and pans from William Sonoma you’ve been eyeing forever…or simply treat yourself to this sweet little planter by World Market.

  6. Cool Off or Cozy Up - Brew up a cuppa Bluff City Chai by the local non-profit ministry My Cup Of Tea for a spiced treat. Serve hot if you’re feeling cozy and pour over ice if you just can’t quite cool down, and keep a selection of these local teas on hand this Fall for drop-in guests. There’s nothing more welcoming than a cup with a story.

Bringing the wild autumn textures, fragrances and hues indoors will keep you feeling cozy from August far into the winter months, and it doesn’t take much to welcome Fall; just a little intention and a few simple treasures.
