New Memphis Eats

Everyone in Memphis can list off their dining go-tos. Some fan favorites might ring a bell: Rendezvous, Hueys, Flight, Brother Juniper’s, Frost, and the list goes on.

However, the restaurant scene in Memphis has continued to expand along with the growth and revitalization of the city. If you stick with your list of tried and true, you might be missing out on fun and fresh places to eat that could become your new favorites. Here are a few new additions in the last year that you might check out:

Ibis

Looking for something a little more upscale and edgy? Ibis is a new cocktail bar and lounge located on South Main Street. Customers have raved about the atmosphere: it’s slightly funky and slightly upscale while maintaining a casual, classy feel.

Ibis has a killer brunch menu and a nice array of smaller and larger dinner plates. Its prime location makes it a homerun for pairing it with a fun downtown activity. Stop by Ibis for some cocktails after listening to live music on Beale Street. Grab a bite to eat before watching a game at the FedEx Forum on date night. Or you can check out the brunch after taking a stroll in the newly renovated Tom Lee Park. The options are endless!

Sunrise, East Memphis

Ever since its opening on the edge of downtown in 2017, Sunrise Memphis has quickly soared to the top tier of breakfast spots in the city. Locals will sometimes wait in line for an hour to get one of their famous breakfast sandwiches.

The downtown location became so popular so quickly that founders Ryan Trimm, Craig Blondis, and Roger Sapp decided to open a new location in East Memphis this past year. Replacing the famous Blue Plate Cafe, Sunrise Memphis’ East location has been as big of a hit as its original location. If you live closer to the eastern edge of the 240 loop and you’re a fan of brunch, then this new breakfast spot is a must try!

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice

Summer Avenue continues to host secret gems for the city of Memphis. The popular Italian ice franchise, Jeremiah’s, has finally made its way to Memphis. Originally established in Florida, Jeremiah’s provides the perfect cold treat to satisfy any sweet tooth. Jeremiah’s is famous for its fruity and creamy blends, and you can order Italian ice, soft serve ice cream, or a combination of both. Cool off from the Memphis heat with this scrumptious frozen dessert!

Memphis is always growing and changing which means there is always something new to try. Keep expanding your horizons and mix up your dining routine with some of these fun new spots!
