Welcome, Mr. Joel Smith and Ms. Ellen Little!
Joel Smith, a Keller Williams Memphis agent with more than 30 years of experience, has joined The Porter Group and brought with him his long-time assistant, Ellen Little.
Who is Joel Smith?
Joel began his career in real estate in 1982. He and his father owned a development and property management company, so he is no stranger to commercial real estate needs. As the market shifted in 2008 and its effects continued to impact his business, Joel, like so many of us, found himself in need of a new strategy.
Enter residential real estate.
Joel eventually found himself interviewing with the Team Leader at Keller Williams. The value system of “God, family, then business” resonated with him, and he decided to join the brokerage. However, simply joining the Keller Williams office wasn’t enough for Joel.
In addition to the superior customer service he provides his clients, Joel serves his Keller Williams community in many leadership capacities, including being named the Culture Chair for the market center. If Keller Williams is involved, you can count on seeing Joel there.

In Joel’s words, the answer is the systems that The Porter Group can provide him. The Keller Williams philosophy that we have adopted is that systems make the ordinary extraordinary. That system can be something as big as our main website, where you can search the MLS in real time, or as simple as what happens when a client decides to list their home with us.
A big part of that is leverage.
At The Porter Group, we believe that specialization leads to superior service. No one can be everything to everyone, and real estate agents often find themselves trying to be just that. What eventually happens when an agent tries to take that on, is that something gets dropped. Whether it’s the followup, the house hunting, keeping contract deadlines, or staying on top of market trends, something is inevitably compromised, and the service to the client suffers.
By hiring and training professionals to be dedicated to the specific areas of our business, we are able to provide clients with a concierges-like experience that we refine every day.
When those aspects of our real estate business are handled effectively, our impact can grow exponentially.
