Fall Magic in Memphis

Chilly Weather Was Never So Cool

You can hardly believe your thermostat…finally, the weather in Memphis is mild! By early November, we’re usually donning jackets and getting outside as much as possible because all true Memphians know that solid autumn weather is pretty short-lived in these parts. It’s time to take advantage.

November Bucket List

Gorgeous Fall Saturday in the 901? This is what we’d do…

  1. Big Bad Breakfast, patio style. If you haven’t indulged in brunch at one of the city’s newest breakfast spots, it’s time to stop in for mimosas and biscuits. An Oxford, Mississippi favorite, Big Bad Breakfast offers a plentiful menu of traditional morning offerings, new dishes, good coffee, and great fall patio vibes. Where Memphis meets Germantown on Poplar Avenue, BBB makes a convenient spot to start an easygoing Saturday.

  2. Vinyasa Yoga at Central Station. Head to South Main in Downtown Memphis for late morning poses with river views. Every Saturday at 11:15, this $16 class offers 45 minutes of stretches and breathing to help calm your body and refresh your mind…and you can’t beat the fresh air and vistas.

  3. Greenhaus. The only way to properly recover from a yoga session is by purchasing beautiful houseplants. The showroom/sunroom at this charming shop offers potted plants affordable at any budget and there are even tables for enjoying next door’s Comeback Coffee. And it’s probably time for another cup anyway…

  4. Visit the Pumpkin House at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. Free to visit, packed with hundreds of gourds, and perfect for a Fall selfie, the Pumpkin House is a new but beloved tradition in the making. Local grants make the Dixon free for guests all year long, so it’s an obvious choice for strolling, taking in art, and making the most of great weather.

  5. Lunch at Libro. You’re back in East Memphis now, so there’s no time like the present to indulge in some early Christmas shopping at our favorite local bookstore, Novel. After perusing the books and gifts, grab an outside table at their cafe and enjoy a Caesar salad or scrumptious burger.

  6. Dog park at Shelby Farms. If your family includes furry members, there’s nothing like a romp around Shelby Farm’s off leash dog park. Enjoy the colorful trees, well-trodden paths, and charming pond – all while letting your whole family run wild! If you go late into the afternoon, you’re sure to catch a gorgeous sunset as well.

  7. Dinner Options. Now that the sun’s down, you’ve got the evening before you. We love catching an evening show at Malco’s Ridgeway Four movie theater. The small cinema boasts a hot dinner menu and bar so you may opt for wine and cheese tray if popcorn won’t fill you up. Otherwise, you may find yourself driving over to HarborTown for dinner at Cocozza for from-scratch Italian favorites, or simply to Midtown for a autumn styled cocktail at Cameo

Wherever you wander, Memphis in the Fall is a beautiful place to be!
